SIT son las siglas en inglés de Pensamiento Inventivo Sistemático (Systematic Inventive Thinking). Se trata de un sistema ideado para resolver un problema gracias a una solución creativa. Este método es estructurado, sistemático y está focalizado en el problema. Esta última característica es muy importante: para solucionar problemas o modificar situaciones, el SIT centra su atención en el objeto que quiere cambiar y en su entorno más cercano. No trata de buscar soluciones incorporando nuevos elementos a los ya existentes, sino que se centra en los factores ya presentes.
