Una EDT (estructura de descomposición de trabajo) es un esquema que contiene el desglose jerárquico de actividades y tareas de un proyecto.

Su finalidad es poder lograr una óptima asignación del trabajo y distribución de responsabilidad y cumplimiento, así como una mejor estimación de costos, recursos y tiempo. Es definida por el jefe del proyecto y su equipo al comienzo de la producción.
