Descripción

El blanqueo de capitales es tan viejo como la existencia del dinero mismo. Pero es a partir de 1920 cuando organizaciones mafiosas en Estados Unidos utilizan lavanderías de barrio para blanquear dinero, proveniente de la extorsión o el tráfico de alcohol, y convertirlo en dinero de tránsito legal.

En aquellos años y hasta la aparición de leyes específicas en 1989, este tipo de delitos eran perseguidos como fraude fiscal.
